A letter from the ashes
How can you not get political in 2025? I am disturbed, saddened, and disappointed when I find out someone doesn’t care for what’s happening around us. It feels like the world has always been on fire, but when it’s closer to home; when the flames reach your doorstep, when the smoke fills your lungs, it hits different, as they say. And today, after watching the vandalizing of the White House by MAGA Republicans, something inside me cracked. Never, NOT IN A BILLION YEARS, would I have imagined the United States of America under siege by its own president. Illegitimate, nonetheless, but the one sitting in power…for now. (And yes, I…

Finding the rationale behind maga
On January 21, I wrote a re-introductory post of the person that I was going to be after we entered the fascism era in the United States of America, following the 2024 election. I made it very clear that I was going to speak up even more now, that I was going to be unhinged on the pursuit of the truth. I always speak up against injustice because I know one voice can make a difference. It’s funny how much you can (re)learn about yourself just by looking back. Growing up, my mother would punish me for “talking back” (when I was just explaining myself), not knowing that today…

No more room for villains
As of November fifth of 2024, the human rights activist in me has been fiercely unleashed. Why? Because what we’re going through now has never been seen in the United States of America. Starting with an evidently rigged election (which was recently admitted by the Con Trump himself at one of his tacky rallies), everything this corrupt administration has done and is doing is a violation of all our rights. There seems to be not a single policy of his that benefits or supports the most vulnerable — the poor, the disabled, blacks, women, minorities… we are all oppressed under his dictatorship. Forgive me, I shouldn’t say all of us.…

What pairs well with the demise of US of America?
What pairs well with the demise of a democracy? Asking for a friend…or a few? In all seriousness, what the actual frock is going on in this country?! Could have no one stopped this farce? My GOD!!!! Is there another way of saying that you’ve reached your capacity of being a “good sports” and are now at a loss for words? Because, folks, I’ve reached that point. I’m in disbelief. How did the people in office, the ones supposed to protect us, the people, allowed this absolute tragedy AGAIN? Listen, there are two types of people apparently in the government; the ones who want the best for you, and the…

A better world: sometime this lifetime
Sit back, relax, drink your bourbon. Not a care in the world. Their kids aren’t safe, but yours are. Why should you care, right? You could not imagine your life without your family by your side, but when it happens to others, you turn your back. You can’t conceive the idea that others might want and deserve to be as happy as you, a happiness pursuit that you think you’re entitled to because by some superiority complex you have convinced yourself that this world is yours. You went and had that abortion in ’09. It saved your career, your relationship, your life. Women around the country, as well as your…

The Eternal Fight for Women’s Rights
What can I say about the “Supreme” Court decision on Roe vs Wade that I haven’t already said? I am at a loss for words. The fact that a political party has had an agenda this entire time to, essentially, disrespect women and make us suffer is simply incomprehensible. I keep asking myself why? Because this is not about defending “precious life” — they already lost that argument long time ago when they decided guns have more rights than people; when they decided the mass murders of innocent children are totally okay. This is not about them being “pro-life,” so please save it. This is about their religious views, which…

Pro-life They Call Themselves
I created a blog about 20 years ago which tagline was: my hands are tied, my voice is not. It was a space I made for myself to voice out my frustrations during my early years of political and self discovery. I realized how affected I was by social injustices and human rights violations everywhere. And though I’m not sure that I understood how important it was at the time, I wanted to be part of the movement, the voices that spoke up and tried to protect all humans’ rights. I quickly learned that it is usually the people with the most unfortunately unfair “social status” who are marginalized and…

Row, Row Your Boat in Unison
During my walk today, I had the time to reflect on some things: I don’t like the way things are headed right now. I know I’m not the only one. I’m a major believer in peace and in our ability to do good. The statewide protests against police brutality have shown the best and worst of humans. It is overwhelming and I should say that I couldn’t be more proud of my fellow human rights activists. But there seems to be so much anger still among some groups of people in our country who don’t believe blacks deserve the right to life. In trying to rationalize their point, I came…

Dear Santa: Keep Your Presents
(Sorry, kids, about the spoil alert.) This year I want nothing but peace and comfort for Syrian refugees. I’ve just about had it with all these stories of horror. Are you tired, too? Or is your heart made of stone? I can’t stand how we helplessly watch so much human suffering and do nothing about. How can we help? I mean, who do you even ask for help? Nope, your god can’t save them either. Borders are stupid, people. Our earth is massive; why be so greedy? There’s room for all. So, keep your presents, Santa. What we need here on Earth is PEACE and love. Yes, a lot of…

Bad-Ass Pope
Por favor, nunca se avergüencen de sus tradiciones. “Never be ashamed of your traditions/roots.” That was one of Pope Francis’ messages [on immigration] today — one of the many about-time-affirmations he’s made on behalf of the Catholic church. The main roads and bridges are shut down in Philadelphia due to the Papal visit; I can’t go too far on this Saturday night. I turned on the TV and every channel seemed to be broadcasting the event. People, my mom included, are very excited about the Pope coming to town. So, in the end, I ended up joining the hype. The funny thing is that, in case you didn’t know, I’m…
