The Rescue Plan – an excerpt
JUST BROWSING is a dating story I’ve been writing for a while, but one that I never quite know what to do with. I think it’s time it sees the light, though. I started publishing it as a series a couple of years back, but didn’t like where it was going. That’s why I’ve decided that I’ll publish it as just another short story instead. Below is an excerpt, with tentative character names. If it sounds like something you’d read, check back for more — plus publishing dates! 😉 The Rescue Plan / Just Browsing “I’ve been looking for you all morning! You missed Media class.” “No sh*t.” “You alright?…

Thorny Seduction
Doing this in pieces was not how I planned it, but life is not a straight road in the desert; it is a busy street under construction in New York City! And I’m trying my best. What I’m trying to say is, my writing projects keep getting interrupted because sometimes I have to work on other equally crucial projects — such as a day job. But as the teacher takes her break, the writer is back at it to pick up where she left off. Last year, I started working on something I called Seduce Me to Use and I’m very excited to get back to it this summer. I…

Somebody Rev Up His Engine
The car smelled like bad news as soon as I stepped in. I would credit my intuition, but it was more like something I’ve learned from experience combined with statistics — the fact that, when it comes to this transportation service, the ratings don’t lie. I found comfort in knowing that it’d be a short ride, though. Then, about three minutes later (it must’ve been three minutes or less into our trip), as he pulled up to an intersection, the car just shut off. Face buried in my phone I only looked up because he said: “Uh oh.” “Is everything okay?” I asked. To which, very nonchalantly he responded, “We…might…

When He Wants Out – Excerpt
Maybe we can get together tonight or sometime this weekend? That’s not a text you send to a woman you claim to be in love with; that’s more appropriate for a hookup. And, ending it with a question mark…so typically him. It means it won’t happen. Sometimes, I wish I didn’t know his grammatical personality so well. Even though I suspected he wouldn’t show up that Friday night, when he sent me that text, I wore my blue satin slip dress, his favorite dress of mine. My willpower got drowsy in the end, anyway, and I ended up passing out on the couch, without him by my side, and I…

How is a Story Born?
How is a story born? A story is born… When we do things we shouldn’t do. When you look at me the way you do. When he pays hush money for his sin. When the doctor calls about your skin. When you fall for me before her eyes. When despite the lies you have butterflies. When you quit your job and travel seas. When she’d die for you and you can’t see. When suddenly you have more mouths to feed. When friends get mad if you succeed. When your double life ends up on the front page. When everything you do seems to be an outrage. When they’re born rich…
