• Not Another Inspirational Quote – Excerpt

I’m currently finishing up a little book of words of motivation, hopefully inspiration, and encouragement. It’s called Not Another Inspirational Quote: 100-something Relatable Life Lessons. I wanted to give you a little sneak preview, but the phrases are short and I don’t want to give them all away…yet. So here’s part of the introduction to the book so that you know what to expect. It remains a mystery to me how those overused sayings, catchphrases, mottos, or however you label them, somehow have stayed relevant forever and ever. And, of course, inspirational quotes—hated by many, mostly loved by all. The internet is filled with them. Social media can’t keep up.…

  • Self-care: a Must

There has never been a more monumental time in our lifetime to honor self-care than the time we’re living in right now. A few years back, there was no hashtag for it, meaning the concept wasn’t even popular.  (Imagine the excuses people used just for a mental escape!) There was not a lot of talk about it, except for maybe in psychology, or much understanding of the importance of taking some time off to practically watch yourself. Just like mental health, which has also taken a much needed turn in recent years and which goes hand-in-hand with the whole concept of self-care, we know now that self-care is a crucial…

  • Crop unrecognizable travelers sitting in automobile with wet windshield and wipers in rainy weather

    Don’t Hit the Brakes!

Today, I want to share my little blogging space with the writing community, and any creatives reading this. Sometimes I think about how much different things could have potentially been for me if only I had had the right guidance. I’ve been open about how college failed me in that area; how I trusted a system which priority, I now know, is to make the most money they can out of each student, with your academic ambitions coming last. But that’s a whole other blog post (stay tuned for that!). So I wanted to send a reminder to aspiring writers out there to just DO it. This is not a…

  • Signs that You Need a Hobby

And I mean a real life hobby, away from technology. I’ve been wondering lately: do I need to chill on the productivity obsession or do some people in your life really need to find a hobby? Perhaps the answer is both. But right now I’m just writing about the people who have too much time on their hands ( like, how?!) when there’s so much they could be doing. My introverted moments get interrupted quite a lot. No matter how much I tell some people that I absolutely need my creative alone and quiet time, they still don’t seem to understand what that entails. When people call you repeatedly just…

  • What Makes Life Livable

We’re all out here playing psychiatrists and philosophers and wizards and astronomers; telling one another how to best live life or what the secret to happiness is, when we don’t know jack about it and common sense can’t save us anymore. But I guess that’s what makes life a little more bearable, right? The little stories that go around. Perhaps, there’s hope in the words of a stranger who maybe lived to tell the story that would finally give your soul a little comfort, a little peace. The circle of life is… something, isn’t?
