2025: New year, same problems
Turned the chapter the other day and it took a minute to understand that the mother of plot twists revealed itself before we even had time to register that it was a new year, a new day. Homeless is a person in your life
I went for a walk around the block with my friend who was visiting from out of State. “Wow, I haven’t seen a single homeless person in your neighborhood,” she said. “Do you ever see homeless people?” she asked. I might’ve stuttered in my response because my definition of homeless had recently been updated. The question took me back to past years, circumstances, and people. I have known people who would probably not be considered “homeless” under US aid programs, but who have been homeless nonetheless. How are you feeling about today? Me? Overwhelmed. Politics, still a pain; climate change, a concept too strange…for many. Not everyone’s on the same page. I fear ending up in the same room with people with different views sometimes. For peace of mind’s sake, I’d prefer those with whom I wouldn’t have to pretend that I’m alright with a life concept other than my own. I speak my mind too hard. I thought I’d make this post a reintroduction. For the old readers and the new ones landing on this blog, whatever the reason may be, allow me to reintroduce myself with these little-known (or not known at all) facts about me!
